Some of the ideas on these pages are from personal resources and others are from other teachers and ESOL websites and are chosen for their relative merit for teaching IELTS.  You are welcome to copy any of these and I do not claim any ownership to them.  I have only listed to date ideas which I have used and which worked well in class.

Elicit in Advance

When preparing for a writing exercise either task 1 or task 2 ensure to elicit and discuss associated vocabulary and place to the board.  The students can refer to this when they are writing.  This provides a good lively start  prior to the writing and an opportunity to concept check the vocabulary with students around the class to ensure that they fully understand a range of lexis which is suitable for the level of writing required.
